Rare Lalique Style Pendant Necklace Deco Egyptian Revival Intaglio Carved Glass & Sea Green Czech Crystal Collar

This superb Lalique inspired Egyptian pendant necklace is extremely rare: this is the only exemplar we have ever seen to have retained its original form, as the centrepiece of a Czech crystal necklace. The carved glass intaglio pendant, featuring an Egyptian water carrier standing on a papyrus mat and holding a scales-like device used for carrying things, which is ornately decorated with ibis heads and exotic birds. The carving is exquisitely detailed, with a frosted translucent finish which stands out against the clear background. The pendant is suspended from a gorgeous Czech necklace made of clear and sea green Bohemian crystal beads. 

The pendant measures 1.6 x 1.25 inches not including the bale (1.75" tall with bale) and the necklace is 17.5 inches long. The fastening is a secure spring ring clasp. The necklace has been recently re-threaded on durable new threads, and is ready to wear and enjoy. Such a beautifully preserved historical piece, which remains exactly as its original creator meant it to look!

The discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in the Valley of the Kings in 1922 caused an explosion in Egyptian inspired jewellery - fuelling one of the best periods in jewellery, characterised by daring exotic designs, colour combinations and gems, including lapis lazuli and turquoise. This necklace reflects the Deco Egyptian aesthetic beautifully.

CONDITION Great vintage: some small imperfections along the sides of the pendant (not visible whilst wearing it) but the cut glass edges are clean and well preserved. In remarkably fine condition considering its age.

RETURNS We have a no quibble return policy, so if you are not happy with your item, please get in touch within 14 days and ship the item back to us within 30 days of receipt. Return postage is normally paid by the buyer (cf. Etsy's return policies).
